Gallery Gaïa & Romeo was born from Frédéric Cassin’s desire to share his passion as a collector, shaped over more than twenty years. His discerning eye is particularly drawn to the great names of Italian ceramics, including Marcello Fantoni, Guido Gambone, Salvatore Meli, Carlo Zauli, and Lino Bersani.

Having reached a turning point in his journey as a collector, Frédéric Cassin chooses today, alongside his goddaughter Antoinette Monnier, to share and convey his passion to a wider public. After a first noteworthy sale at Christie’s Paris in December 2024, dedicated to the work of Jacques and Dani Ruelland, he is initiating a new chapter.

Gallery Gaïa & Romeo embodies a sensitive dialogue between personal memory and universal symbolism. Its name, inspired by the founder’s grandchildren, reflects both intimacy and artistic vision. Gaïa, the primordial goddess, evokes the nourishing earth, the source of clay and all creation. Romeo, in contrast, carries a romantic and radiant spirit, suggesting passion and the sunlit colors of the Mediterranean.

Young yet guided by a strong curatorial vision, the gallery draws inspiration from the ceramics of the 1950s, an era when the medium reinvented itself as a language of pure artistic expression. Every piece exhibited resonates with this living material, seeking to create a dialogue between heritage and modernity. Gaïa & Romeo is committed to reframing ceramics, not as mere decorative craft, but as a vibrant art form, infused with gesture, matter, and color. Following in the footsteps of artists like Picasso, who revealed its expressive power, as a central force in modern and contemporary art.
